SMU will be playing on the road for the first time this season when they take on Butler in Indy. The SMU Mustangs are 3-0 to start the season but just 1-2 ATS. The Bulldogs are 2-1 and also 1-2 ATS. SMU returned just three starters, but you wouldn’t know it by the way the offense has come together so early. They are putting up 93 points per game average, second best in the ACC. They are shooting 50% from the field and 37% from three-point range. On the defensive end, they are giving up 67.7 points a game. Butler's loss this season was as a 17 point favorite to Austin Peay. Butler is putting up 74.3 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field and 39.4% from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, they are giving up 66 points per game. SMU has players that can go get theirs but are also well rounded and in two of their three games they have had five players score in double digits. Butler also has some scorers, but they don’t have a lot of depth to back them up. SMU has a definite rebound advantage which should allow them to get out in transition. I like the Mustangs to get out early, which will allow their defense to turn up the pressure on what can be a turnover prone butler team.
