(NCAAF) Aztecs (SDSU) vs. Golden Bears (CAL),
Total: 48.00 | -110.00 Under
Result: Win
Total: 48.00 | -110.00 Under
Result: Win
I played the under in last week's Aztecs game and I'll be playing it again in week three.
SDSU plays fast (7th in tempo) but managed just 179 total yards on 3.7 yards per play last week. It didn't score a TD until the second half of its week one game vs. TX A&M-Commerce, a team that allowed 36 points to UC Davis last week. True frosh QB Danny O'Neil averages 5.6 yards per pass and has three turnover-worthy plays compared to one big-play throw. He's suffered a lower-body injury last game, too.
The Cal defense ranks 13th in PFF’s defensive grade (88.7) and has forced a national-leading eight turnovers. The Bears are allowing just 4.5 yards per play in 2024. On the offensive end, they have two linemen sidelined who are doubtful, and starting receivers Tobias Merriweather and Kiyon Grayes will be out for the third straight week. Star RB Jaydn Ott is questionable, too. San Diego State's defense (3rd in explosiveness and 32nd in EPA per play) will make enough plays to keep the total low. Cal played at Auburn last week and visits Florida State next week — the Aztecs aren't a priority for them this week.
