This is a 10* ART OF WAR on the OVER between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Buffalo Sabres.
Neither of these teams have been playing to many high-scoring affairs of late, but we feel that the conditions are now finally right for a shootout and look for this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. Note that Chicago has averaged 4.0 GPG during a six-game win skein vs. the Sabres. Most recently the Hawks would conclude a 3-1-0 homestand by destroying Edmonton 4-0. Chicago goaltender Corey Crawford has had plenty of success against Buffalo in the past, but the starting netminder is expected to sit this one with backup Scott Darling getting the call; Darling has started two of three on the road, where he's a poor 0-3-2 with a ballooned 3.60 GAA as a starter (if Crawford does get the call, it makes no difference to us, as note that Chicago has in fact seen the total go OVER the number in six of its last seven road games where the total is five or less and interestingly, in five of nine this season after scoring four goals or more in its previous contest). Buffalo though clearly won't be rolling over, far from it, this is a much improved Sabres team which has won four of five at home, most recently an impressive 3-0 victory over Anaheim. It's one thing to shut down the declining Ducks offense though and it's quite another in contending with this talented Hawks lineup; and note that Buffalo has seen the total go OVER the number in nine of its last 16 after a victory by two goals or more and in 34 of its last 58 following a non-conference contest. Play on the OVER.
