The Tampa Bay Rays return home from a 2-4 road trip at the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees. They're 5-1 in their last six home games following a road trip of seven or more days and I like them to open their 10-game homestand with a win against the San Diego Padres.

Left-hander Drew Smyly (4-11, 5.04) takes the ball for the home team. He's off four consecutive quality starts and the Rays have won each of the last three. He'll make his first career start against San Diego which is 5-21 in its last 26 interleague road games vs. a left-handed starter.

The Friars turn to Luis Perdomo (5-6, 6.80 ERA) who's been knocked around for a total of nine runs (eight earned), 19 hits and seven walks over 11 2/3 innings through his last two starts. Rays are 7-3 in their last 10 home games vs. a right-handed starter.

The Padres have lost each of the last four meetings at the Trop, and this looks like a reasonable price on the Rays.
