(MLB) Toronto vs. Baltimore,
Money Line: -142.00 Toronto (Away)
Result: Win
Money Line: -142.00 Toronto (Away)
Result: Win
Play: Toronto Blue Jays
Rating: 8*
The Baltimore Orioles defeated Toronto 5-3 on Tuesday and are now just three games back of the Blue Jays in the division. This is a huge game for both teams, but I like the visitors to come through and edge the victory.
Yovani Gallardo (4-6, 5.69) takes the ball for Baltimore. He was torched for eight runs (seven earned) on six hits in only 1 1/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees his last time out. Gallardo took the loss in Toronto on July 30 in his last meeting with Toronto, giving up five runs on five hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings of work.
The Jays turn to Aaron Sanchez (12-2, 2.99 ERA) who was charged with five runs (four earned) on four hits in four innings of Toronto's win at Cleveland on Aug. 20 his last time out. The extended rest will do him good, and I expect a big outing from the 24 year old today. We can note that he's 7-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 13 road starts on the season.
Toronto is 17-10 as a road favorite of -125 or more this season and 7-1 in its last eight games following a loss. The Orioles are 3-8 in their last 11 games following a win and this looks like a good spot to back Toronto to bounce back with a win.
