Play: Minnesota Twins
Rating: 8*
The Minnesota Twins entered this series with the Chicago White Sox on a 13 game losing streak. They've won two of three against Chicago here at Target Field though, and I like the Twins in the series finale Sunday afternoon.
Anthony Ranaudo (1-1, 8.76 ERA) takes the ball for Chicago. The 26 year old will make his seventh appearance (fifth start) in the majors this season, and he's really struggled in the previous outings. He has served up seven homers and walked 18 vs. just 13 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings of work. The White Sox bullpen has been under heavy pressure lately and yesterday's starter, James Shields, was chased off the mound already in the third inning.
Andrew Albers (0-0, 6.97 ERA) will take the bump for the Twins for his second start for the club this season. His numbers are not that impressive either, but he has eight strikeouts vs. four walks in 10 1/3 innings of work and I think he'll give Minnesota a chance to win this game.
The Twins' bats have been lively lately, even during their extended losing streak. With two unreliable pitchers on the mound you gotta take the team with the better bats, simple as that.
