The Texas Tech Red Raiders will take on the Arizona State Sun Devils at Sun Devil Stadium on Saturday. Both teams won their season opener, but I like the visiting Red Raiders to be the team to come out ahead of this contest.
Texas Tech did not hold anything back in a 69-17 win over Stephen F. Austin last week. The Red Raiders racked up 758 total yards and QB Patrick Mahomes went 30-of-43 for 483 yards and four TDs and rushed for 57 yards and two more scores. Arizona State defeated Northern Arizona 44-13, but while its offense looked good, it's also worth noting that the Sun Devils gave up a plenty of yards and ended up outgaining NAU by a mere 31 yards in the end. The Sun Devils have some defensive issues heading into this contest with senior linebacker Salamo Fiso likely suspended, junior Christian Sam nursing a foot injury and junior Marcus Ball missing the first half after getting ejected for targeting.
Red Raiders are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games in September while Sun Devils are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games in September. Red Raiders are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a straight up win of more than 20 points while the Sun Devils are 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a straight up win of more than 20 points.
