Play: Cleveland Indians
Rating: 10*
The Cleveland Indians opened this three-game set against the Detroit Tigers with an 11-4 victory Friday night. I think this looks like an excellent price on the Tribe to put another dagger in their division rival.
Justin verlander takes the ball for the Tigers. He's pitched pretty well lately in holding four of his last five opponents to two runs or fewer. He's been haunted by the long ball though, serving up six in his last four starts and he's 0-3 with an atrocious 9.18 ERA in three meetings with Cleveland on the season.
Carlos Carrasco (11-8, 3.32 ERA) takes the ball for Cleveland. He's been lit up to the tune of nine runs (eight earned) through his last 11 innings of work, but the 29 year old sure knows how to tame the Tigers. Carrasco is 2-0 with just one run allowed through 17 2/3 innings of work spread out over three meetings on the season.
Carrasco was chased of the mound after just 3 2/3 frames in an 11-4 loss at Chicago White Sox his last time out, but the Indians are 6-1 in his last seven starts following an outing of less than four innings in his last appearance.
