Play: Detroit Tigers
Rating: 10*
The Detroit Tigers beat the Royals 8-3 on Friday night to maintain their position as the second wild-card team in the American League, and I like them to claim another victory Saturday afternoon.
Daniel Norris (3-2, 3.63) takes the ball for Detroit. He's been very sharp lately and has averaged 12.4 strikeouts per nine innings while going 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA in three starts this month. The Tigers are 5-0 in Norris' last five starts.
Yordano Ventura (11-11, 4.35 ERA) takes the ball for Kansas City. He's is coming off his second career complete game in his last outing, an 8-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox, which I think puts him in a letdown spot here. Ventura is 7-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 10 starts against Detroit, but now he'll face a Tigers team that has scored 38 runs in winning five straight games. The Royals meanwhile have lost each of their last four and motivation must be low in the Royals camp by now as they would need to climb over multiple teams in order to claim a wild-card spot.
The Tigers are a solid 21-12 as a home favorite of -125 to -175 on the season, the Royals are 21-31 as a road underdog of +100 to +150.
