The Baltimore Orioles blew a 3-0 lead in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Yankees. They can still secure an American League wild-card spot with a win here in the regular-season finale, and I like their chances with Kevin Gausman on the hill.
Gausman (8-12 , 3.66 ERA) has not been at his very best lately but he's 2-1 with a 0.80 ERA in five starts against the Yankees this season. He's held them scoreless in each of the last two meetings with 17 strikeouts through 13 innings of work.
The Bronx Bombers turn to Luis Cessa (4-3, 4.18 ERA) who will make his ninth career start in the big leagues. He's had a solid rookie campaign, but he's winless in his last six starts and the Orioles will most certainly be focused and zoned in at the plate today.
Orioles are 8-2 in their last 10 Sunday games, Yankees are 1-6 in their last seven Sunday games. Good spot to back the super motivated Orioles to bounce back from yesterday's disappointing defeat.
