I think the home side takes advantage of this favorable matchup on the mound and finds a way to get the job done at the end of the night. The visitors send right-hander Joe Kelly to the hill; Kelly of course was traded by St. Louis to Boston just last week. Kelly is an unremarkable 1-1 with a poor 7.32 ERA over four starts since returning from injury on July 11th; in fact, the day before he was traded, Kelly was shelled for four runs off seven hits over five frames in a 12-1 loss at San Diego. Here's the perfect opponent for Cardinals' starter Shelby Miller (8-8, 4.18 ERA) to continue to progress against; after a shaky first half, Miller has been downright filthy after the break, giving up two runs and three hits in each of his two starts. Most recently Miller would yield two home runs over six frames in a 6-2 win at San Diego on Thursday. Miller will benefit in not having to face former teammate, slugger Allen Craig who was placed on the DL on Tuesday with an ankle issue. For this selection, I'm focusing entirely on the starting pitching, Miller gets the nod and that's more than enough to tip the scales in our favor, making this a price we can live with; play on the CARDINALS.
