AAA's VERY EARLY PRIME-LINE VALUE-PLAY! UP HUGE UNITS MLB THIS YEAR!
(MLB) NY Mets vs. Washington, 08/07/2014 8:35 AM, Score: 3 - 5
Money Line: -142.00 Washington (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* PRIME-LINE VALUE-PLAY on the Washington Nationals.

Both starting pitchers come in with momentum, but I'll give the slight nod to Jordan Zimmermann; ultimately, this is a price I can live with and think we're getting great value here. The visitors throw out rookie Jacob deGrom (6-5, 2.77 ERA), who has won five-straight, compiling a sparkling 1.04 ERA in the process. Most recently DeGrom gave up two runs over 7 1/3's innings in his team's 4-2 win over the Giants on Saturday. I think DeGrom runs into a buzzsaw today though, the Nats have taken 11 of the last 13 in the series after yesteday's 7-1 beatdown. DeGrom should be wary of several Washington sluggers including Adam LaRoche who would combine with Danny Espinosa for three dingers in yesterday's win (LaRoche has in fact hit safely in eight straight vs. the Mets, going 12 for 29 with five taters, 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored). Zimmermann (7-5, 3.00 ERA) went seven scoreless vs. Philadelphia in his team's 11-0 win on Saturday, striking out eight and walking none in the process. Zimmermann is exuding confidence right now, and so he should, and especially in this matchup as he's won two straight vs. New York after allowing three runs over six frames in a 6-3 victory on May 18th. The Nationals have scored early and often against the Mets, but especially early, note that leadoff man Denard Span is hitting a whopping .388 with ten extra base hits and 15 runs during a 17-game stretch in this series (note that Span is hitting a red hot .418 his last 20 games overall). DeGrom has been great, but Zimmermann and the NATIONALS are the sharp play here. Lay the short price.
