This is an 8* MID-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the LA Dodgers.
The Dodgers would lose two of three to NL East-leading Washington after falling 8-5 in 14 frames on Wednesday, but with a well-rested Dan Haren opening this three game set, I look for the home side to bounce back with a convincing effort here. LA is now two games behind the Nationals in the race for the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, but has to be liking it chances over the next couple of weeks with series vs. Arizona and San Diego, two teams that it's gone a combined 22-10 against this year (that includes a 12-4 record vs. the D-Backs). Haren's (11-10, 4.27 ERA) last start was skipped over, so he comes in with two extra days rest; note that he's 2-2 with a respectable 3.90 ERA with at least six days' rest this season. In his last start Haren would give up two runs over six frames in a 3-2, 12-inning setback to the Friars on Friday. Haren has to be feeling confident coming in though, he's 3-1 with a 2.15 ERA over his last five outings overall and 3-1 with a 4.26 ERA in four vs. Arizona this season. The visitors counter with Vidal Nuno (0-4, 3.23 ERA) who has posted a 2.25 ERA in his last four starts; Nuno has been the victim of poor run support, note that the Diamondbacks have dropped nine of his 10 starts. LA has had difficulties with southpaws this season, but I think breaks through here, I also look for Haren to outduel his counterpart and have no problem laying this price; play on the DODGERS.
