This is an 8* SITUATIONAL ASSASSIN on Navy.

I am primarily a situational handicapper and this is primarily a situationally based pick. Which of these teams do you feel is more likely to have a letdown here? I believe that Temple is. Navy came close last week in a 34-17 setback to the Buckeyes and would have been playing hard and been confident that it could pull off the upset, however, the team would have also been realistic going into the season, knowing that if it dropped the tough opener, that it would be crucial to immediately focus on its next opponent so as to not be in an 0-2 hole right out of the gates. Suffice it to say, I think the Navy coaching staff and players are very prepared for this exact scenario. Conversely, the Owls are coming off a hugely satisfying 37-7 road win in Vanderbilt as a 8-point underdogs. While the team will be pumped and eager to build off that performance in its home opener, I simply can't see it not being somewhat distracted and contented this week after the big upset. Temple looked pretty sharp on the defensive side of the ball last week, it held the Commodores to a total of 278 yards while forcing four fumbles and three INTs. On the offensive side of the ball though, the unit was far from impressive, it was the beneficiary of great field position which was provided by an opportunistic defense (in fact, the Owls offense would lose a pair of fumbles, one of them ended up in the endzone for Vandy's lone TD). Conversely, the Midshipmen did have a legitimate shot at winning last week, Ohio State would in the end only outgain them 420-390; players to keep your eyes on today are Ryan Williams-Jenkins who had 118 yards on seven carries, while ten others contributed to the option attack. I think the visitors come in focused and prepared and Temple's "luck" runs out this week; play on NAVY.
