What if I told you I could get the hottest team in baseball against a foe that is 28 games below .500 at a pick'em type price?

It's true. That's what we have here with the Mariners on the road against the Nationals, who are 30-58 on the season and losers of nine of their last 10 games.

It seems a lot longer than just 2019 when the Nationals won the World Series. Juan Soto is the only remaining member of Washington's starting lineup from that magical season. The Nationals are in full rebuild mode now.

The Mariners are 16-3 in their last 19 games, easily playing their best ball of the year. They've won eight in a row.

The oddsmaker has very much overrated the starting pitching matchup of Chris Flexen against Josiah Gray to open with this price.

Flexen isn't some stiff. He's a decent middle-to-bottom of the rotation starter. He's pitching well, too, going 3-0 with a 3.06 ERA in his last three starts.

Gray is having a breakthrough year leading Washington in all the important pitching categories. Yet Gray's 4.14 ERA is higher than Flexen. There are some disturbing aspects about Gray, too. He's 2-5 with a 6.42 ERA when pitching at home. He also has a 6.15 ERA when pitching at night.
