Schule's NBA Opening Night PRIMETIME PUNISHER (Absolute Monster)
(NBA) Houston vs. LA Lakers, 10/28/2014 6:30 PM, Score: 108 - 90
Point Spread: -6.00 | -107.00 Houston (Away)
Result: Win
This is a 10* play on the Houston Rockets.

The Lakers shocked the Clippers on Opening Night last season, but don't expect another upset here as they host the Rockets. Dwight Howard and James Harden just don't like L.A., and I expect the dynamic duo to be ruthless, sticking salt in the wounds of the ailing Lakers.

The Rockets won their last two trips to the Staples Center by a combined 41 points, and they have covered the spread in seven of the last 10 meetings. Given the Lakers injuries, the spread for tonight's game looks a little low.

Losing Steve Nash was a big blow for L.A., but Nick Young and Xavier Henry are also important players that will not suit up tonight. Kobe Bryant is going to need to get back to where he was prior to the Achilles injury if the Lakers are going to be at all competitive, and he's certainly not there yet.

After playing 34 minutes against the Suns last week, Kobe sat out the Lakers final two games of the pre-season. Coach Byron Scott has said he plans to be careful with Kobe's minutes, so don't be surprised to see him spend some time on the bench.

Take HOU.
