The Atlanta Hawks will need to have their passports handy, traveling north of the border to take on the Raptors in Toronto in their season opener. This is a tough spot for the visitors, as the Raptors are going to be all fired up in front of the home crowd. Nobody expected Toronto to make the playoffs last year, but the Raptors actually finished third in the East behind Miami and Indiana. This young team should only get better, and that certainly seemed to be the case in the pre-season, as they finished with an NBA best 7-1 record.
The Hawks get Al Horford back, an they should be better with the signing of Thabo Sefolosha, but it will take time for things to come together. "That will be one of the hard things, figuring out how to use them all and take advantage of all their abilities," Budenholzer said. "Assuming we're healthy, we've got a lot of guys that really deserve to play."
These teams split the season series last year, with the home team winning and covering all four games. The Raptors won both their home games by double digits, and I expect that trend to continue tonight.
