The St. Louis Blues recently signed veteran goaltender Marty Brodeur, and the fact that they felt they needed to bring a 42 year old out of retirement might say a lot about how much confidence they have in backup Jake Allen. With #1 Brian Elliott sidelined by a knee injury, Allen will take over in his absence.

Allen comes in to this game with solid numbers (8-2-1 with a 2.16 GAA), but he's facing the Hawks for the first time. The Blues have lost five straight at Chicago, including all three games in the first round of last year's playoffs.

The Hawks are coming off an impressive 4-1 win over the defending Stanley Cup champs in Los Angeles. Brad Richards scored twice, and they killed all three of the Kings power play chances. Chicago owns the league's top penalty killing unit, holding the opposition scoreless 91.3% of the time.

Patrick Kane is feeling the hot hand, he's tallied four goals and five assists over his last six games. Chicago should prove to be the better team here on home ice.

Take CHI.
