NHL - As mentioned in the write-up on Game One of this series, the Rangers have been a thorn in the side of the Hurricanes. New York has taken 31 of the last 37 meetings in regular season action between these teams. This is a rare playoff series between these teams and is a best of 5 series so the early jump (taking Game 1) is huge. That said, with the Hurricanes having gotten a tight win in Game 1, look for the Rangers to respond huge here. New York got strong goal-tending in Game 1 plus seemed to play better as the game went on after they started off on the wrong end of the scoreboard very early. Look for the Rangers to take advantage of Carolina being without Dougie Hamilton. Already their defensive corps was in a state of flux because newly acquired Sami Vatanen hadn't even played in a regular season game yet with his Hurricanes teammates. Now, after the covid-19 shutdown and resulting cancellation of games, he is suddenly thrust into playoff action with his new team. The Rangers were done in by the early deficit in Game One but really looked better as the game went on and their long-term success against the Canes resumes here.
