These teams have been playing to several low-scoring games of late, but I say the finale sets up as a "SLUG-FEST" finally.
The visitors go with Randy Dobnak, who is 1-7, 7.64 ERA and who allowed five runs off six hits over seven innings Friday in a loss to the Rays. It was his first start back from the 60 day injured list.
The home side counters with Cal Quantrill, who is 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA, and who comes in off a terrible outing as well, allowing five runs off seven hits over six innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Friday. Overall Quantrill has been great this year, but one has to wonder if the one-year pro is finally starting to run out of gas?
Either way, I expect each of these now struggling starters to get chased early and I expect that to ultimately help in driving this total OVER the number.
