The Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs open the season in Kansas City.
The Cleveland Browns made the playoffs last season and if they can accomplish that feat again it will be the first time they made the playoffs in back-to-back years since 1988-89. Baker Mayfield will lead the offense and will rely on Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt for the rushing attack. If Odell Beckham Jr. is and can remain healthy? he and Jarvis Landry should both have big years at wideout. The Browns’ defense should be solid with the addition of Jadeveon Clowney to Myles Garrett upfront and Denzel Ward and Grant Delpitcontrolling the secondary.
The Kansas City Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl again but could not get the job done against Tampa Bay. Patrick Mahomes is back at QB with Clyde Edwards-Helaire starting at running back. When it comes to the Chiefs it is all about the passing game and they have some weapons there. Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, and Travis Kelce make up an elite receiving corps. They had injuries on the offensive line in the Suoer Bowl that caused issues so they have redone the offensive line and brought in tackle Orlando Brown to sure up the only weak spot on the offense. The defense will be decent and to be honest with Mahomes and the offense they just need to be average.
Cleveland has gone 5-1 to the over in their last 6 games on grass. Kansas City is 6-0 to the over in their last 6 week 1 matchups. Cleveland has a tough defense but Mahomes and company always find a way to put up points. The Kansas City defense should be better but it is week one. The total is a little high but these offenses should outperform the opposing defense.
