THE PROFESSOR’S MLB UPPER-DECK BLOWOUT
(MLB) Atlanta vs. NY Mets,
Money Line: -110.00 Atlanta (Away)
Result: Win
You couldn't ask more from the Atlanta Braves pitching staff in their opening day loss to the New York Mets 1-0. Mike Soroka gave up just four hits in six scoreless innings but the Braves offense did nothing against deGrom. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Marcell Ozuna went just 2 for 8 combined and will need to do better going forward. Max Fried will look to get the Braves into the win column when he takes the mound. Last year he went 17-6 with a 4.02 ERA and 173 strikeouts. In his career against the Mets, he is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 44 strikeouts.

The Mets offense wasn't much better, but they were able to get a solo home run from Yoenis Céspedes that gave them the win. Jacob deGrom was outstanding in the game allowing just one hit over five innings and he struck out eight of the fifteen batters he faced. Steven Matz will try and keep the winning going with today's start. Last year, he was 11-10 with a 4.21 ERA and 153 strikeouts. He has pitched well in his career against the Braves with a 6-2 record and a 2.94 ERA.
Max Fried is a very capable pitcher that can strike a lot of people out. The Braves offense will get things together and should find success against Matz. Matz has been good against the Braves but has been a little hit or miss the last couple of years. I look for the Braves to bounce back and get the win in this one.

Play on Atlanta.
