No lead is safe if you are a Chicago White Sox fan as they took a 4-run lead into the ninth before losing 8-4 in extra innings. The Sox will give Rookie Drew Thorpe the start while the Mariners will counter with Bryan Woo on the mound. Thorpe will be making his major league debut in this one. He has pitched in Double-A this season, posting a 7-1 record with a 1.35 ERA and a .170 batting average against in 60.0 innings. The Mariners are first in the AL West by five-games. Bryan Woo has started six games, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.07 ERA and a 0.53 WHIP in 33.2 innings. Thorpe isn’t overpowering with a fastball in the low 90’s. If he doesn’t have command early the Mariners could sit on the fastball and have a big night at the plate. The White Sox have been one of the worst teams in baseball while the Mariners are one of the better teams in the AL. Woo has made three starts at home and is 1-0 with a 0.57 ERA and a .137 batting average in 15.2 innings. Thorpe won’t go deep and then the Mariners will get to tee off on the Sox bullpen once again.
