The Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. The D’nacks will send Jordan Montgomery to the mound to face Mitch Keller. The D’backs started the season slow but have climbed back into the playoff hunt. They have won eight of their last nine including game 1 last night. Jordan Montgomery has not had a good season so for in Arizona. He is 7-5 with a 6.51 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. He allowed six runs in four innings last time out. The Pirates are trying to keep up with the Diamondbacks in the wild card race. They are 7.0 games out of the N.L. Central lead, and they’re 3.5 games out of the wild card. Keller is 10-5 with a 3.30 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. He faced the D’backs last Saturday, going 7 innings and allowing 2 runs. Pittsburgh is now 4-0 in Keller’s last four starts. As good as Arizona is playing, I can’t back Montgomery at this point. Compare that to the Pirates having one of their best pitchers going I will have to go with the Pirates.
