The Yankees are coming into this game not playing very well recently as they have lost 10 of their last 11 games and just lost their last series at home to the Nationals. The Yankees have also been awful on the road this season as they are 25-33 on the road while the Rays are 43-22 at home and have been playing very well in their recent games. They have won their last 4 straight as well as 6 of their last 7 games and their offense has been very good in those as well as they have been averaging close to 9 runs scored per game in their last 7 games. Gerrit Cole is starting for the Yankees here and he is 10-4 with a 3.03 ERA this season but he has not been pitching well in his recent starts. He is coming off of a start where he allowed 6 earned runs and he has allowed at least 4 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 starts as well. He was also awful in his only start in Tampa this season as he allowed 6 runs in that game and he will struggle to keep the Rays from scoring here with how hot their offense has been. Zach Eflin is starting for the Rays here and he is 13-7 with a 3.58 ERA this season. He has been pitching much better recently, he did have 1 bad start this month but he has also allowed just 1 earned run or less in 3 of his last 4 starts. He also shut down the Yankees in New York earlier this month and the Yankees have not been hitting well recently so he will do the same here at home in this game as he gets plenty of run support from his team's red hot offense right now. The Rays will win this game.
