Clemson is coming into this game as one of the few teams in college football who have yet to play a game but after seeing Florida State roll LSU on Sunday night, Clemson is going to come out strong out of the gate here knowing they have to see that in a few weeks. Clemson was very good last season as they were 11-3 overall but that is not good enough for them and they have a National Championship on their mind so they are going to be heavily focused on going undefeated this season. They came out very strong in their 1st game of the season last year as they went on the road beating Georgia Tech 41-10 and now they have all of their starters on offense and defense as returning players from last year. They have also upgraded their starting QB with Cade Klubnik who showed some flashes of very good play when he had his chances last season. The Clemson offense was much better under Klubnik as they moved the ball a lot better with him and they are going to have the hunger to make a statement in this opening game with not too much talk around them in the National Championship conversation. They are going up against a Duke team that was also very good last season as they went 9-4 and they have made a lot of improvements to their team with the transfer portal, but as good as Duke was last year they still had a very weak schedule as they did not play any really good teams in the ACC yet they still lost 3 conference games. Duke will still be a good team this season but this Clemson defense is up to a National Championship standard and Duke is going to struggle to score all night while Clemson tries to run up the score and make their case as one of the best teams in the country. Clemson will cover the spread in this game.
