The 49ers are coming into this game after beating the Lions 34-31 in the NFC Championship. The 49ers put themselves in a big hole in that game as they were down 24-7 at halftime, but both their offense and their defense showed up when they needed to as they came out in the 2nd half of that game and held the Lions to 0 points while scoring 27 points unanswered to take a 10 point lead before the Lions punched 1 last touchdown in to end the game with 31 points. The 49ers have now pulled off 2 comeback wins in the playoffs as they also came back against the Packers and allowed 0 points in the 4th quarter of that game so their offense and their defense has been showing up when they need to in these games. They are going up against a Chiefs team that is coming off of a 17-10 win against the Ravens in the AFC Championship. The Chiefs have won all 3 of their playoff games with 2 of those wins coming on the road and their defense has been good in those games. The defense has been the story for the Chiefs this season as they have one of the best defenses in the NFL and they have been turning things up in the 2nd half of their games as they have allowed just 7 points or less in the 2nd half of their last 8 straight games. Their offense has had big problems though as they have not been scoring a lot of points in their games and even in the games where they do score a lot of points, most of those points have been coming in the 1st half. The Chiefs beat the Ravens 17-10 in their last game but they went into halftime up 17-7 so their offense scored no points in the 2nd half and they relied on their defense to stop the Ravens. The Chiefs defense is going to have a much tougher time trying to stop this 49ers offense with all of the weapons they have at different skill positions on offense and Kyle Shanahan will find creative ways to move the ball against this defense. Just like the Chiefs, the 49ers also have a very good defense that is going to cause problems for Mahomes and the Chiefs struggling offense. The Chiefs may have the championship pedigree here as the defending Super Bowl champions, but the 49ers have been here before and they know the pain of losing in this game, to this exact team as well, so they are going to get up for this game and they will have the hunger to win and prove that they are truly the best team in the NFL this season.
