He has been very tough to crack this season as he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in 6 of his 7 starts and 1 earned run or less in 5 of his 7 starts this year. His worst start this season came in his 2nd start of the year and it was a start that he allowed 4 earned runs in. Since then, he has not allowed more than 2 earned runs in any of his 5 starts, allowing just 1 earned run or less in 4 of those, and he is coming off of his best start of the season as he pitched 8 innings against the Astros without giving up a run and only gave up 2 hits as well. Gilbert has been very consistent this season and he also pitched well against the Twins last year so he will continue his good form in this game. Pablo López is starting for the Twins here and he is 3-2 with a 4.30 ERA this season. He is coming off of a good start which he allowed 1 earned run in, but he has not been able to string performances like that together this season as he has actually allowed 3 earned runs or more in 2 of his last 3 as well as 4 of his last 6 starts, allowing at least 4 runs in 3 of those. Both times this season he allowed just 1 earned run in a start, he followed up by allowing 3 earned runs in his next start. He has also allowed 3 earned runs in 2 of his 3 home starts this season. Lopez has not been awful this season but he has been consistently giving up runs with at least 3 earned runs in 4 of his 7 starts this season and he has not had a start yet which he did not allow a run in. He is going to give the Mariners offense the edge they need to win this game while Gilbert pitches another great performance deep into the game to keep his team in it for the win. The Mariners will win this game.
