The Braves are coming into this game with a 22-12 record this season and they have been playing well in their recent games. They got swept by the Dodgers in their series last weekend, but they bounced back in their last series by sweeping the Red Sox in 2 games and they are going to be hungry to keep that good form going as the Phillies have now passed them in the standings. The Phillies have also played 4 more games than the Braves, but all 4 of those games were wins so the Braves need to make up some ground now. They are going up against a Mets team that is 18-18 this season and has won their last 2 straight games, but they have also lost 3 of their last 5 games as they have been hovering right around .500 all season. Charlie Morton is starting for the Braves in this game and he is 2-0 with a 3.50 ERA this season. He had a couple of rough starts to start the season but he has bounced back nicely in his recent starts as he has allowed just 2 earned runs or less in each of his last 3 starts. He did give up 4 earned runs in a start against the Mets earlier this season, but he has been pitching much better since then so he will be looking to bounce back with a better performance here, especially since the Mets offense has been very inconsistent all season. Jose Quintana is starting for the Mets in this game and he is 1-3 with a 5.20 ERA this season. He has not been pitching well in his recent starts as he has allowed at least 5 earned runs in 2 of his last 3 starts, and he is coming off of his worst start of the season which he allowed 8 earned runs in less than 3 innings against the Rays. He also gave up 3 earned runs against the Braves in a start earlier this season, but he has been pitching much worse since then which will not be good against one of the strongest offenses in the league. The Braves love to beat up on the Mets and they will be pushing for the win here as they need to catch the Phillies now who have been hot. The Braves will win this game.
