(MLB) Red Sox (BOS) vs. Royals (KAN),
Money Line: -142.00 Royals (KAN) (Home)
Result: Loss
The Red Sox are coming into this game with a 59-51 record this season and they have been playing well in their recent games, winning 3 of their last 4. They are going up against a Royals team that is 63-50 this season and has also been playing very well in their recent games, winning 6 of their last 7 games. Their offense has been very good in these as they have scored at least 7 runs in 3 of their last 5 games, but their pitching has also been very good which is something the Red Sox cannot say recently, the Royals allowing just 2 runs or less in 3 of their last 4 games. Brady Singer is starting for the Royals in this game and he is 8-6 with a 2.88 ERA this season. He has been pitching very well in recent starts as he has allowed no runs in 2 of his last 3 as well as allowing just 1 earned run or less in 6 of his last 8 starts. Even the 2 starts in that span that he allowed more in, it was only 3 earned runs and 4 earned runs in those 2 starts. He has been much better at home as well, allowing 1 earned run or less in each of his last 4 as well as 7 of his last 8 starts there, and he has not allowed a run in his last 2 home starts either. He did allow 4 earned runs in less than 3 innings against the Red Sox a few weeks ago, but that was also at Fenway so he will have a much better start here at home. James Paxton is starting for the Red Sox in this game and he is 8-3 with a 4.52 ERA this season. He has not pitched that well this season despite his 8 wins, and he was recently traded from the Dodgers. He has allowed at least 3 earned runs in each of his last 3 as well as 4 of his last 5 starts, allowing at least 2 earned runs in each of those, and he has only had 1 start for the Red Sox but he gave up 6 runs in that game. He does not pitch deep into games either as he has not gone past the 5th inning in his last 6 starts, and the Red Sox bullpen has not been good recently so they will be vulnerable to allowing more runs against this Royals offense that has been heating up. The Royals have played themselves back into a Wild Card spot and they are going to be pushing to keep that spot now that they are heating up. The Royals will win this game at home.
