AMEDEUS' CFB FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS OUT!
(NCAAF) Owls (TEM) vs. Sooners (OKL),
Point Spread: -41.50 | -106.00 Sooners (OKL) (Home)
Result: Win
Temple is coming into this game off of a 3-9 season last year and there have been a lot of changes to the team this season. They lost their starting quarterback and will have Forrest Brock starting in this game who was their 3rd string QB last season and only played in 1 game, throwing 15 passes and completing 7 for 60 yards, no touchdowns, and 1 interception. They are returning their 2nd leading rusher from last season, but they did lose their leading rusher as well as a lot of production in the receiving corps. E.J. Warner was not really turning many heads last season but he is still a player with a father who played at the NFL level so him leaving is a big downgrade for Temple this season, especially since they replaced him with Brock who barely has any experience playing at the college level. They are going up against an Oklahoma team that was 10-3 last season and did not have the season they wanted, but 10-3 is still a big improvement over going 6-7 in Brent Venables 1st year as head coach of the team. Venables is a defensive minded coach and one thing he has done in his first 2 seasons is improve that defense as they averaged 30 points allowed per game in their 1st season under Venables and brought that down to 23.5 points allowed per game last season. That is only going to improve this season as well. Oklahoma also lost their starting quarterback in Dillon Gabriel, but Jackson Arnold will be taking over this season and he played very well in his few appearances last season. He has a lot of potential to grow in this starting role so he will be looking to prove that he deserves to be the starter. The offense is also returning their starting running back as well as some of their receivers and they were a team that did average over 40 points scored per game last season. Temple lost all of their road games last season with a majority of those losses coming by 20+ points against much weaker teams in their own conference. Oklahoma opened last season with a 73-0 win over Arkansas State at home and Temple has not really improved much this season. Oklahoma will cover the spread in this game.
