Rutgers is coming into this game with a 4-3 record this season and they were very hot to start the season, but they have struggled in conference play as they are only 1-3 in the conference. Their only conference win this season came at home against Washington, but they have been awful recently as they have lost 3 straight games. Their last 2 losses were both at home as well, losing to Wisconsin 42-7 and now coming off of a 35-32 loss against UCLA as well. They are going up against a USC team that is 3-4 this season and has not been playing well in their new conference at 1-4 this season. They have also lost their last 3 straight games, but their schedule has been much tougher for them. They lost 2 of their last 3 games on the road against Minnesota and Maryland and that was a tough travel out to the East in both games for them. They played much better in their 1 home game in that span, losing by 3 points to Penn State who is ranked number 3 in the country right now. USC did force OT in that game as they played much better and they have been much better at home all season, beating Wisconsin 38-21 and Utah State 48-0 in their other 2 games there. Rutgers has not been great on defense recently either, allowing 170.3 rushing yards per game and 5 yards per carry. USC has not been a run heavy team this season, but they still average 145.4 rushing yards per game and are very efficient when they do run the ball, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. USC will have success on the ground against this defense at home and that is only going to help open up things in the passing game for them which has been very good all season for USC. Rutgers has struggled to throw the ball all season though and they have been very inaccurate with their throws, especially in their recent games. USC has the ability to run away in this game and once they take a sizable lead here, Rutgers will not be able to come back once they fall behind and that will put this game out of reach for them.
