Iowa State is coming into this game with a 7-1 record this season and they are 4-1 in the conference. They were undefeated up until last week when they lost their 1st game of the season at home by 1 point to Texas Tech, but they are only going to be hungrier to bounce back with a better game here. They have been very dominant in the conference this season with all 4 of their wins coming by 3+ points in 3 of those 4 wins coming by 12+ points. Their defense has been very good all season as they are only averaging 15.5 points allowed per game, ranking 9th in the country, and their offense has been consistent recently as they have scored 28+ points in 3 of their last 4 games, averaging 30.5 points scored per game this season. They are going up against a Kansas team that is 2-6 this season and they are 1-4 in the conference. They are coming off of their bye after losing by 2 points on the road in a close game against Kansas State, but they have lost 6 of their last 7 games and 5 of those losses have been by 3+ points. Their defense has also been awful this season as they have allowed 29+ points in 4 of their last 5 games. Kansas has a very strong run game this season, but their passing game has not been great with Jalon Daniels as they are averaging under 200 passing yards per game, and that is going to get them into trouble here if they need to play this game from behind. Iowa State also has a very good pass defense that is averaging 146.6 passing yards per game and barely allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete over 50% of their passes against them so with Kansas struggling to throw on this defense, their offense is going to turn very 1-dimensional as Iowa State will be able to focus on stopping the run. Iowa State also has a very good run game themselves and Kansas has not been good at stopping the run or great with their pass defense either. Iowa State is going to have options to move the ball in this game while Kansas struggles on offense against this defense, and that will be the difference in this game. Iowa State will cover the spread in this game.
