Hampton is coming into this game with a 1-3 record this season. They were an awful team last season, but they are in their 1st season with a new head coach now and they will be hungry to improve. They won their 1st game of the season against a team that does not play in Division I, but they have lost their last 3 straight games now. Their 1st loss came on the road against George Washington in a blowout, but their last 2 losses were both by 9 points as they have been improving. Now they are going up against a weaker UMBC team that is 3-2 this season, but 2 of their 3 wins have come at home against teams who do not play in Division I. UMBC was not a good team last season either and they have lost a lot of their production from that team as well. Their only true win this season came at home against Coppin State in a blowout, but they also have a loss to Penn State on the road by 49 and they are coming off of an 8 point loss at home against Saint Peter's in their last game. UMBC has been very inconsistent on offense this season as they have scored less than 65 points in 2 of their 3 games against Division I opponents while Hampton has been playing better on defense, allowing less than 70 points in each of their last 2 games despite losing both.
