Point Spread: -2.50 | -110.00 Chanticleers (CC) (Home)
Result: Loss
Georgia Southern is coming into this game with a 6-4 record this season and they are 4-2 in the conference. They were leading the SBC East for most of the season, but they have not been playing well in their recent games and have now dropped out of 1st place. They are coming off of a 28-20 loss at home to Troy in their last game and they have lost 2 of their last 3 games as well. Their defense has been awful in these games as well, allowing 28+ points in each of their last 3. They are going up against a Coastal Carolina team that is 5-5 this season and they are 2-4 in the conference, but they are also playing for bowl eligibility so they are going to get up for this game. They have not been playing well in recent games either as they have lost 4 of their last 5 games and they are coming off of a 31-19 loss to Marshall in their last game, but 3 of their last 4 losses have also been on the road and they did win their last game at home against Appalachian State 38-24.CCU has a very good run game that is averaging 170.6 rushing yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry and that is an area on this Georgia Southern defense that they can attack as GA Southern is averaging 181.8 rushing yards allowed per game and 5.2 yards per carry. CCU does not have a great run defense themselves, but Georgia Southern is only averaging 119.7 rushing yards per game and is not a strong running team. Coastal Carolina has not been bad at defending the pass either, unlike Georgia Southern who has been much worse on pass defense so Coastal Carolina is going to have plenty of options to attack this defense at home. Coastal Carolina will cover the spread in this game.
