Illinois State is coming into this game with a 4-2 record this season and they were not great last season, but they are retunring a few players from that team and are looking to improve this year. They lost their 1st game of the season at home to Tennessee Martin by 2 points, but they have won 4 of their last 5 games and have been playing much better since then. Their only loss in that span was against McNeese State in the 1st game of this tournament, but they bounced back in their last game with a 1 point win over UAB. They are going up against a George Washington team that is 5-1 this season and has been playing well in their recent games. They won their first 4 games to start the season, but all 4 of those wins came at home and were against much weaker opponents as well. Their 1st real test of the season came in the 1st game of this tournament which they lost to Kansas State by 12 points. They are coming off of a win in their last game, beating Louisiana by 9 points, but Louisiana is also 1-5 this season and has been awful. They still allowed 74 points in that game as well and their defense has not been good recently as their competition has stepped up, allowing 74+ points in each of their last 2 as well as 3 of their last 4 games. George Washington dominated in their first 4 games of the season at home, but they have been much different in their last 2 games so this game still being in a neutral location in the Virgin Islands helps Illinois State who is more tested with a true road win this season as well.
