Oakland is 49-21 in its last 70 games. The A's have been a remarkable story and continue to be underrated.

A rejuvenated Mike Fiers has looked good since coming to the A's from the Tigers. Oakland is 5-0 in Fiers' starts. The A's have beaten the Yankees in 17 of the past 24 times they have hosted them. Playing in the spacious Oakland Coliseum is tough for the power-hitting Yankees. The time difference doesn't help either for New York.

Oakland is 24-9 in its last 33 home contests.

So I'm surprised the Yankees are such a heavy favorite here. Luis Severino hasn't been nearly as effective as he was earlier in the season. He's yielded four or more earned runs in five of his last nine starts. His ERA is up to 3.32, which is good but not dominant. The Yankees remain without several key injured players - Aroldis Chapman, Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorius.
