These teams have been involved in several lower-scoring games of late, but I'm finally expecting some offensive fireworks here in the finale of this three-game interleague series.
San Francisco has won four straight and now sits only 3.5 games back of a Wildcard spot. Chicago has lost four straight after yesterday's 4-1 setback.
Note though that the ChiSox have in fact seen the total go OVER the number in eight of their last 11 in trying to avenge two or more straight road losses vs. an opponent.
The visitors hand the ball to Garrett Crochet (6-9, 3.61 ERA), whose numbers are a bit deceiving really, as he hasn't thrown more than four innings since July while posting a poor 6.17 ERA in that span.
He'll be opposed by Logan Webb (11-8, 3.17), who went 7.1 scoreless vs. the Braves on Thursday.
Webb has conceded just two runs over his last 29 innings of work. He has been amazing of late, but I say his numbers are unrealistic and regression is now imminent.
This can still be a lower-scoring game and go well OVER this tiny number, and that's exactly what I see happening once it's all said and done.
