This is a 10* EAST-COAST TOTAL EXPRESS on the UNDER between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
For a number of different situational and trend based reasons, I believe this total will ultimately fall below the posted number once the final horn blares. Toronto will certainly be motivated tonight, it's lost three straight, most recently getting destroyed 9-2 at home by Nashville on Tuesday. It was the most goals that Toronto has given up since a 12-1 loss to Pittsburgh back in 1991. Note that the Buds also lost 6-2 to Buffalo on Saturday: "When you get beat like that in professional sports it is embarrassing, and when you get beat like that in front of your home fans it compounds things," captain Dion Phaneuf assessed afterwards. "It is unacceptable." The Lightning are coming off back to back high-scoring affairs including a 5-2 loss to the Isles on Tuesday. Note that Tampa lost the services of center Cedrick Paquette in that one to a lower-body injury, a blow for the team for sure as he had posted five goals in his previous six games. The Lightning are expected to start Ben Bishop who is 8-1-1 in his last ten starts while posting a tiny 1.72 GAA in his past four. It's unsure who will get the start for the Leafs after Tuesday's debacle, but note that Toronto has seen the total go UNDER the number in 25 of its last 42 after allowing 4 goals or more in its previous contest, while Tampa has seen it dip below the posted number in 19 of its last 35 vs. division opponents. Great value in my opinion, play on the UNDER.
