This is an 8* O/U EAST-COAST EXPRESS on the OVER between the Buffalo Sabres and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Neither of these teams is known for its offensive prowess, but for a number of different reasons (mainly strong O/U trend based ones), I expect this total to eclipse the posted number as the game comes down the stretch. We have a couple of cellar dwellers facing off against each other, there is no pressure in this game whatsoever obviously and I think that's going to translate into a faster paced affair overall. Both teams have problems scoring, but each is also atrocious defensively as the Sabres allow 2.55 GAA and the Sabres have the worst mark in the NHL at 3.39. Note that embattled Sabres' goaltender Jonas Enroght is just 1-4-1 with a deplorable 3.68 GAA in his last seven games and his 3.13 GAA is second worst in the league. And note that Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward hasn't been much better, he's 2-8-1 in his last 11 starts. But as mentioned off the top, this pick is primarily based on strong O/U trends, note that Buffalo has seen the total go OVER the number in eight of ten this year after playing to three or more consecutive SU losses, in 12 of its last 15 after allowing four goals or more in its previous contest and in 12 of 16 after a loss by two goals or more in its previous contest. And note that Carolina has seen the total sail above the posted number in six of its last 11 when revenging a home loss vs. an opponent. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this one.
