This is a 10* TOTAL ART OF THE GAME on the UNDER between the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Phillies.
These teams have been playing to some pretty high-scoring affairs of late and neither of these starters has been very impressive this year, but I just think that adds value to the lower number and do indeed expect this total to sneak below the posted number once the smoke clears at the end of the afternoon. The visitors hand the ball to Bud Norris (2-4, 8.29 ERA) who gave up four runs off eight hits over 5 2/3's innings in a no-decision vs. the Yanks on Saturday. Norris will be opposed by Sean O'Sullivan (1-5, 5.08 ERA) who came out on the wrong end of a 4-1 decision to the Pirates on Saturday, scattering eight hits over six innings. Note that if O'Sullivan has had one bright spot this season, it's been his play in front of the home town crowd where he's a respectable 1-1 with a 3.77 ERA. And note that Baltimore has seen the total go UNDER the number in five of seven interleague contests this year (as of Wednesday morning), while Philadelphia has seen the total dip below the posted number in ten of 18 after three or more consecutive losses. I think the conditions are now finally right to see this one sneak below this sky-high national league number, play on the UNDER.
