Point Spread: -9.50 | -108.00 Seattle (Home)
Result: Loss
This is an 8* ASSASSIN on the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle finally got off the schneid with a convincing 26-0 win over the Bears last week, but obviously the team can ill afford to have a letdown tonight, once again this has essentially become a do-or-die game for the Seahawks and we expect this motivating factor to prove to be the difference in the outcome. Seattle's defense is in for a big day, the 0-3 Lions' offense is struggling and the team will be under pressure to make some plays, which is a recipe for failure vs. the opportunistic home side's unit; note that Detroit already has eight giveaways, tied for second most in the league, including five INT's from QB Matthew Stafford. The Lions have simply become too one dimensional as their run game ranks last in the NFL and that's bad news vs. Seattle, who got a big boost with the return of defensive specialist Kam Chancellor last Sunday. Seattle could be without RB Marshawn Lynch, meaning that the onus will fall onto QB Russell Wilson, TE Jimmy Graham an specialist Tyler Lockett. But even without Lynch, Seattle is a force to be reckoned with if Thomas Rawl's performance from last week is in any indication as he'd rumble for 104 yards in his second career game. Detroit has already had issues in stopping the run and the visitors are going to have a hard time tonight vs. a Seattle team which will be committed to the ground game. The Lions have also had issues in stopping the pass, especially the quick and underneath routes, which is Wilson's forte as he's easily one of the most accurate passers in the league. The Lions have also been brutal on special teams, while the Seahawks have dominated the area for the last few years. The Lions are possibly in even worse shape than the Bears were last week who came to town without starting QB Jay Cutler, while Seattle has seemingly returned to full strength with the return of Chancellor. Because of their 1-2 record, we're expecting the SEAHAWKS to come in focused on the task at hand, to dominate all three phases of the game and to pull away down the stretch for the comfortable ATS cover.
