*MASSIVE TOTAL ALERT* AAA's VERY EARLY ACC TOTAL DESTRUCTION!
(NCAAB) Wake Forest vs. North Carolina State,
Total: 151.00 | -110.00 Over
Result: Loss
This is an 8* TOTAL DESTRUCTION on the UNDER between Wake Forest and NC State.

We don't subscribe to any one single handicapping methodology, but instead feel that being flexible with ones approach is the best way to secure profits over the longterm. Sometimes we keep it simple, while other times we'll take into account a bunch of different factors, like motivation, scheduling and significant injuries. Recognizing classic "spot bets" is something we always do as well, IE: the "look ahead" spot, the "let down" spot and the "trap" game. The actual contestants on the field of play rarely enter into our equation when making selections, unless it's a Top 3 player like a LeBron James or Aaron Rodgers etc. One set of criteria which we almost always use when making our decisions, are Against The Spread (ATS) statistics. Sometimes these stats can be overrated and other times they help foreshadow the outcome of a contest.

This particular play is based on a few different factors:

Desperate Deacons: Wake Forest will be desperate for a victory today as it looks to avoid a ten-game losing streak. Most recently the Demon Deacons fell 71-66 to Georgia Tech on Wednesday. It was an especially frustrating setback considering that Wake Forest led for 24 of the first 26 minutes. We definitely expect this desperate style of play to translate into defensive production on the court today.

Hungry home side: The Wolfpack will also be hungry for a win today, they're coming off back to back losses and will be eager to avenge a 77-74 setback to Wake on January 10th. The Wolfpack have lost eight of their last ten SU and have seen the total sail above the number in all eight losses, with the number staying below the posted total in the victories. Play good defense and win is the motto for NC State.

ATS statistics: Note that Wake Forest has seen the total go UNDER the number in seven of nine on the road this year, while NC State has seen the total dip below the posted number in four of six after scoring 80 points or more this season.

The bottom line: With each team scrapping and clawing for a victory today, we're expecting a much slower-paced affair and a slower-pace = less shots and less shots = less points. Play on the UNDER.
