A couple of quality starters go head-to-head on Tuesday night and when the smoke does clear at the end of this one, we're expecting this total to sneak below the posted number. Adam Wainwright (9-5, 4.16 ERA) gets the call for the visitors and he's gotten better as the season has worn on, most recently he'd give up four runs over seven innings while walking just one in a no-decision vs. the Mets on Wednesday. The hard-throwing right-hander has gone at least six frames in 12 of his last 13 starts. The home side counters with Dan Straily (6-6, 3.84), who comes in off a dominant outing vs. the Giants on Wednesday, giving up one run off three hits while striking out five over eight innings of work. Straily hasn't given up more than two runs in any of his last three starts and he has to be feeling pretty confident that he can keep the momentum rolling tonight as he's 3-1 with a very respectable 3.21 ERA in front of the home town crowd. We're expecting these two competent hurlers to battle into the latter frames and for this total to sneak UNDER the posted number once it's all said and done.
