REASONING: What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about these two teams? For us, it's a couple of offenses which like to push the pace from the opening tip until the final horn, combined with a couple of defenses which dont' actually play much defense most of of the time. While this is true on most nights, we think these two normally high-scoring teams will in fact play to a lower-scoring defensive battle this evening. The Thunder opned the year 6-1, but have come back down to Earth, despite the dominant play of guard Russell Westbrook, losers of five of their last seven, including a frustrating 115-111 setback tothe Pacers in OKC on Sunday. The defense has allowed 103.8 PPG and clearly the visitors will be focused on that end of the court tonight against the high-flying Lakers. Note though that LA enters committing 15.5 turnovers per game. The Lakers are also out to atone for some shoddy defensive play after Jimmy Butler torched them for 40 points in a 118-110 setback to the Bulls on Sunday: "Jimmy Butler had a pretty fantastic game. He's a pretty fantastic player," LA coach Luke Walton said. "But if he's going to do that, then we have to shut down the rest of the guys. We let him get his, and the role players all chipped in and did their part as well. You either have to take away the star or take away the role players. You can't let everyone have a night." With games against the Warriors on Wednesday and then again against Golden State at home on Friday, this is a contest which LA will look to secure this evening. Note that OKC has seen the total go UNDER the number in all four of its road games this year, while the Lakers have seen the total go UNDER in 11 of their last 14 as a home dog of three points or less.
