AAA's 10* SITUATIONAL PITCHING MISMATCH! EPIC ALL SPORTS RUN CONT!
(MLB) Kansas City vs. Tampa Bay,
Money Line: -109.00 Kansas City (Away)
Result: Loss
This is a 10* "SITUATIONAL PITCHING MISMATCH" on the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals blanked the Rays 6-0 in yesterday's series opener and with what I believe to be the superior starter backing them once again, I look for the visitors to find a way to get the job done at the end of the night. The Rays send Jeremy Hellickson to the mound for his first start of the season; Hellickson was 12-10 while posting a career high 5.17 ERA in 31 starts in 2013. Hellickson returns after having surgery on his throwing elbow back in December. Tampa Bay had looked a lot better in winning nine of its previous 12, but appeared pretty pathetic in yesterday's setback. Unfortunately for the Rays and Hellickson, a date vs. the consistent Royals is not what the doctor ordered to get out to a strong start as he is just 1-2 with a ballooned 6.18 ERA in five starts vs. them. Note that the Royals' Billy Butler is 9 for 14 off him, while Alex Gordon is 7 for 14 and Omar Infante is 4 for 6 vs. Hellickson. So while the book is defintely going to be out on Hellickson for a while, we can confidently back Jason Vargas (8-3, 3.32 ERA) who gave up four hits over seven frames in a 4-0 win at Minnesota on Wednesday. Vargas has had a couple of hiccup's here and there throughout the year, but for the most part has been as solid a wager as you could possibly ask for, he's 4-0 with a tiny 1.52 ERA in eight road starts and is 2-1 with a very respectable 2.59 ERA in four at Tropicana Field. Note that Vargas gave up one run and four hits over eight frames to beat the Rays 4-2 on April 7th in front of the home town crowd. In my opinion this is the definition of great line value, play on KANSAS CITY.
