This is an 8* BLOCKBUSTER on USC.
This is a big game for USC, I think it comes in focused and runs up the score, ultimately pulling away down the stretch for the comfortable ATS cover. Fresno State comes in with some questions at QB, like who exactly is going to get the start? In fact, we could see a little of both Brian Burrell and Brandon Connette today. Having a starting QB issue at this time of year is never good for a program that's expected to win and replacing the big arm of Derek Carr will obviously not be easy. Connette didn't even arive until after spring camp was over. Let's face it, with Carr gone, Fresno State will have an identity crisis early until someone can emerge and fill the void, both on and off the field. Here is a perfect opponent for new USC coach Steve Sarkisian to take advantage of. USC QB Cody Kessler put together a great season in 2013, starting every game last year and led a tumult-plagued program to 10 victories. Kessler dismantled the Fresno State secondary in last season's Las Vegas Bowl, the Trojans prevailing easily in a 45-20 rout. The ground game features a stable of able backs, Tre Madden may not be available because of turf toe, but that won't matter as the team will turn to the equally talented Javorious Allen. USC's defense was a strength last year as well, it's anchored by DL Leonard Williams, suffice it to say Fresno State is going to have its hands full today. I think the conditions are right for a blowout, all signs point to USC as the sharp wager in this contest.
