This is a 10* WILD CARD BEATDOWN on the San Francisco Giants.
As we saw yesterday, almost anything can happen in a one or done playoffs, I unfortunately had the A's in a game which easily could have gone either way at any point. Regardless of that fact though, I believe that you can't discount experience in these types of situations and in this case, I'm going with veteran Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants in the National League Wild Card Game. The home side goes with Edinson Volquez who had a bounce back season with Pittsburgh, going 13-7 with a 3.04 ERA. Volquez was particularly sharp down the stretch, going 5-0 with a 1.64 ERA in his final 11 stats. Note though that in his only other postseason start back in 2010 vs. the Phillies he was shelled for four runs in 1 2/3's innings during Game 1 of the NLDS. Bumgarner was even more impressive in the regular season by going 18-10 with a 2.98 ERA and will be looking for a little revenge here, in agruably the worst outing of the year for him, he'd give up five runs in four innings in a loss to the Pirates back on July 28th. As mentioned off the top though, experience means a lot in these types of contests: "I don't know what's going to happen, but you're going to see guys who are comfortable playing in this type of game," San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said earlier in the week. "They're all about winning. I don't think they'll be affected by any kind of element or environment." In my opinion, great value here; play on the GIANTS.
