The Southern Miss Golden Eagles host the Marshall Thundering Herd Saturday night, and this looks like a good spot to back the home team. They're well prepared coming off a bye week while Marshall fell 27-24 against Charlotte as an 8.5-point favorite its last time out. The Golden Eagles are coming off back-to-back defeats at Texas-San Antonio and Louisiana State, but it's worth noting that both those teams were coming off a bye week and the Eagles have not played bad at all IMO.
Marshall won last season's meeting 31-10 as it took full advantage of five turnovers from the Eagles, but Southern Miss actually outgained Marshall by 163 yards in the defeat. The Eagles have a much improved team this season and I expect them to win big here at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg.
