Point Spread: 1.00 | 100.00 San Francisco (Away)
Result: Loss
Play: San Francisco 49ers
Rating: 8*
The San Francisco 49ers opened the season with a win, but they've lost 10 straight since. They've played competitive football again in recent weeks and covered the spread in two of their last three games. They'll visit another terrible team this Sunday as the 2-9 Chicago Bears will play host on Soldier Field.
The Bears' alternating starting quarterbacks Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer have both gone down with potential season-ending injuries and Matt Barkley, a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles out of USC, made his first career start in a 27-21 loss to Tennessee last week. The Niners D is obviously ... not good, but surely they must be able to stop this rookie. San Francisco has started Colin Kaepernick under center since Week 6, and he had his best game of the year under center in last week's 31-24 loss at Miami when he threw for 296 yards, three touchdowns and added another 113 yards on the ground.
The Niners won last season's meeting 26-20 in overtime as a 6-point underdog here in Chicago. The Bears are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games vs. a team with a losing road record, and I like San Francisco's chances of pulling another upset.
